UNDERWATER “MYSTERY” CIRCLE
A Japanese underwater photographer was recently baffled when he discovered a beautiful “mystery circle” on the bottom of the ocean floor. (pictured left) After doing some underwater research with video cameras, the Japanese broadcaster NHK was able to solve the mystery when it was discovered that the circle was made by a male puffer fish. (pictured right) According to researchers, the male puffer fish built this beautifully decorative circle to attract a mate. Not only did he spend his time and energy to create the many mounds and ridges, but he also put small pebbles and shells around this magnificent formation. However, the puffer fish wasn’t just trying to romance a certain girl puffer fish, the circle also has a purpose and function.
